At the young age of 13, Anthony Fratangeli moved with his family from Frosinone, Italy to the United States, and settled in Aliquippa, PA. It was a monumental event in his young life, as he saw America as a land of myth, opportunity, and fortune. To Anthony, the bustle, smoke, and steel of 1958 Aliquippa was beautiful, with endless opportunities. It was in this Western Pennsylvania town that Anthony was enrolled in school and learned to speak English. After completing high school, he continued his training, became a skilled machinist, and secured a job with General Motors in Pittsburgh, where he eventually worked for over 30 years.
Even as a young boy, Anthony always dreamed of owning a “true family restaurant” that encompassed the “Old-World” traditions and values handed down over generations in Italy. With his career established, he followed his heart, and returned to his hometown where he met and married lovely Anna Levanti. The young couple returned to America and settled in Aliquippa where they still reside today. Soon after, they were blessed with a daughter, Tina, and then a son, Dino. In 1998 his dream became reality, and they honored their new venture after Anna’s maiden name.
In, 2012 Levanti's was hand-picked to be featured on an episode of Chef Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares". Chef Ramsay and his crew came and set up at the restaurant from June 2-8th, 2012. After a fun, hectic week, Chef Ramsay transformed us into an "American Bistro" after several discussions with the residents of our community.
We accepted the challenge proudly, and serve only the finest, freshest ingredients brought in daily from local purveyors. We prepare every dish to order, nothing ever frozen, and bring it to you from a member of our friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable staff.
Welcome to Levanti’s, welcome to our family, and welcome to our home.
